The Hog Blog: Brandon UnempLloyd
by Ryan Nash
Thank you, Mr. Lloyd. Two years ago, Washington traded a 3rd and 4th round pick for your rights. In glimpses with San Fransisco, you displayed the potential of being a high-light reel wide receiver. Two years later, the Washington Redskins's official site reports that you have been officially cut.
When you arrived, I thought it would be worth the draft picks. I had seen a few of your highlight clips on Youtube, and knew giving you $10 million smackaroos for a signing bonus would be justified. Just 23 catches your first season? Oh well, you have to gel with your new crew don't you?
Well, things never got any better in 2007. Quickly lost in the shuffle, Lloyd was losing time to James Thrash and Reche Caldwell. The team even viewed ancient Keenan McCardell as a better option than Lloyd, who registered just two receptions in Gibbs' final hoorah.
So, the Redskins have severed ties with another mistake. A waste of draft picks and money, the Skins yet again need to look for a new receiver. With free agency and the draft right around the corner, I'm sure Snyder is licking his chops right now. After all, he does need to fix the mess he's helped create.
