Who Knew?

Well Giants fan, I'll be honest, I thought at this point in the season I would be writing a season wrap up. I figured I would write about how Eli lost his 3rd straight first round playoff game to the Bucs after watching that 1st quarter a couple weeks ago. I thought then I would write a wrap up about how Eli got past the first round and that's all he really needed to accomplish, and that losing in Dallas wasn't that big a deal, especially after that Dallas 10 minute 2nd quarter drive. But I've been proven wrong before.

With their 9th straight road win, the Giants will head up to chilly Lambeau Field to face Brett Favre and the seemingly resilient Packers on Sunday night. There are so many numbers you can throw around, like Eli's 4 TDs to 0 INTs in the playoffs so far, or like Ryan Grants 200+ rushing yards and 3 TDs last week against a tough Seattle front 4, after losing 2 fumbles early on, or you can look at week 2 where Green Bay scored 3 late game TDs to seal a victory against the Giants. But I don't think you can look at this game by numbers, this game is going to come down to who wants it more.

Eli Manning, 26 facing off against Favre, 38. Talk about the young guy vs the old guy. The way Eli is playing it's going to be hard to go against him this week. But you have to keep this in mind Giants fans - week 1 of the playoffs was in Tampa, 70 degrees. Last week was in a dome in Dallas. Eli has never really played well in cold weather. Remember that Washington game a few weeks back where he was 18-52, or the week after in Buffalo where he was 7/15. I do believe the forecast in Green Bay for next week is single digits. This could be the difference as it might end up being a matchup of Brandon Jacobs, 25 against Ryan Grant, 25. If the Giants can stop Grant, they have a chance.

Honestly, I don't think anyone really expects Eli to take New York in there and come out with a W. But maybe that's what it takes. Maybe no one expected them to put up a fight against New England. That attitude might just be enough to get them to face New England one more time, in the Super Bowl
